About We The Citizens

We The Citizens is a lightweight, ethics-first political movement. We exist to establish whether a member of Congress is captured — and to replace the ones who are with challengers who are not.

Why we exist

Citizens across every party already suspect that their representatives answer to someone other than them. Suspecting it changes nothing. Establishing it changes everything.

So we do two things, in order:

  1. Uncover capture. Take what a member of Congress actually did — their votes — and what they actually said, in their own recorded words, and publish the arithmetic beside every claim so anybody can check it. Not an accusation; a derivation. See Congress Working For Citizens and Voting Records.
  2. Replace the captured. Find and back challengers for those seats — chosen not for promising the right things, but for being strong enough not to be captured once they are in the seat, which is a different property and is measured differently. See Replacing Incumbents and Qualifications.

That is the whole purpose. Everything else on this site is either the method for step one or the machinery for step two.

Why the structure matters

An organization whose leadership answers to donors, sponsors, or a self-appointing board can be redirected the moment it becomes inconvenient to somebody with money. An organization whose leadership answers to its members cannot. A movement built to remove capture has to be built so that it cannot itself be captured — otherwise it is the next thing to be bought.

What we are

  • A movement, not a bureaucracy. Very lightweight by design.
  • Member-owned. Every major decision flows up from the membership. The board serves at the pleasure of the people, not the other way around.
  • Radically transparent. All finances, all board votes, all major decisions — documented and published. Every dollar visible.
  • Uncapturable. No single donor, corporation, or foreign interest may hold outsized influence. Grassroots funding from real Americans only.
  • Accountable. An elected board with term limits, annual independent audits published in full, and any board member recallable by member vote.

What guides us

Everything we do is measured against the charter principles — good ethics first, politicians who work for citizens, exposing the deep state, online political thought leadership, winning with less money, and ending voter fraud permanently.

Read them the way they were written: as articles of a founding document.

Non-partisan here, partisan at the door

This site is the neutral lobby. It carries the part everyone can agree on — finding out who is captured, and finding the best candidates who will not be. The partisan work happens on the four party doors, where each community builds its own package in its own language: We The Citizens R, We The Citizens D, We The Citizens L and We The Citizens S.

How we act

Two core programs carry the charter into the world:

  • The We The Citizens Conference — a once-a-year national gathering of thought leaders from across the political spectrum, with speakers selected by the board.
  • Campus Debates — great political thought leaders visiting universities, taking questions, and debating in the open, with the content repurposed to extend its reach.

Who runs it

The founding board is elected. Every member is term-limited, subject to member recall, required to disclose financial interests publicly, and bound by the charter to serve member interests above all else.
