Puppet master over politics
The test does not change when the outside party is a foreign government. It just gets worse.
Where a decision depends on information or leverage controlled by an outside party, that party is a party to the decision.
When the outside party is a foreign state, an American voter has been quietly removed from their own election — and unlike every other form of capture on this site, there is no domestic remedy that reaches the person doing it. You cannot vote them out. That asymmetry is why this gets its own area.
What it looks like in the record
- A position that tracks a foreign interest and not a district, across votes where the two point in different directions.
- Information reaching a decision-maker through a channel that answers abroad, rather than through the ones a constituent could audit.
- Coordination that is documented — funding, contracts, registrations, court findings — rather than inferred from someone's opinions.
The last one is the discipline. Holding a view that a foreign government also holds is not evidence of anything, and this site never treats it as evidence. Plenty of Americans arrive at unpopular positions honestly, and a movement that forgets that becomes the thing it is fighting.
What we never do
- Never call a living person a foreign agent unless the public record — a registration, a charge, a court finding — establishes it, and even then we say precisely what was established.
- Never treat association as proof. Being in a room is not a finding.

The defence is counting, not censoring
The answer to purchased reach is not to remove speech. It is to make the purchase worthless, by counting only verified real citizens in the decisions that matter. A manufactured crowd is powerful only in a venue that cannot tell manufactured from real; in one that can, it is an expense with no return.
That mechanism is Trust Scores, and it defends without silencing anyone — which matters, because a movement built on citizens seeing the record for themselves cannot be in the business of deciding what they are allowed to read.
