Meritocracy on This Community's Own Basis

Who counts as "best" gets settled by track record, not by who we like — and on a basis this community sets, not one we hand down. Meritocracy is the engine underneath everything here: find the candidates most dedicated to always work for citizens, and strongest at pushing off being co-opted.

The same engine runs on all four doors. What this door adds is the basis for judging merit: democratic socialists decide what counts as merit here, not a neutral baseline and not us. The arithmetic that turns it into a number is in Trust Scores.

What "best" is measured from

  • Measured after the election, not promised before it. What a candidate says on the trail is not evidence. What they did with a vote is.
  • Two separate records, never blended into one. What someone did with power — how they voted, what they authored, what they blocked — is judged on its own. What they said, in interviews and public commitments, is judged separately. A good speech never moves a voting-record result.
  • Most challengers have no votes to read, so their own recorded words are the whole evidence base. A newcomer is not penalized for never having held the seat.
  • You do not have to take our word for the method. The code, the data and the AI method are all open, and the AI reads and reasons but never awards anything and never approves anything. See Open Data, Open Source, Open AI.
  • How much we know is published next to the result. "We know 31% about this person" sits beside it. Somebody can be fully known and still not good.

Where this sits

This is one area of We The Citizens S, the Democratic Socialist front door at WeCitizensSocialism.com. It is written for democratic socialists, and nothing on the other three doors decides what belongs here.
