Replacing Incumbents Controlled by Special Interests and Money in Politics
The core action of this door: get political challengers into power to replace incumbents who answer to special interests and concentrated money instead of to the people who elected them.
- The trigger is the voting record, not a personality and not a primary-season quarrel. When an incumbent's votes track their donors instead of their constituents, this community backs a challenger.
- Incumbency earns nothing by itself. No safe seats and no automatic re-endorsement. An incumbent who has stayed independent can be backed on the merits, like anybody else.
- Party label is not the qualification. Independence from those forces is. Plenty of captured incumbents run as allies of this community, and saying that out loud is what separates us from a party organ.
If you carry one sentence out of this door, carry that last one.
How a seat actually changes hands
- You are shown the seat, not the personality. Each seat carries three people side by side: the incumbent, the best challenger from your own side, and the strongest challenger from any other party — same size photo, same arithmetic. People leave. The seat is the thing you vote on.
- Every claim traces to the official record — the House Clerk, the Senate, congress.gov, govinfo, the FEC, a state's own site. Not a news write-up and not a summary site. Here is the vote, here is the donation, and both carry a link you can open.
- The same arithmetic runs on incumbents this community likes. It has to. A measurement that quietly exempted your own allies would not be a measurement, and you would be right not to trust it.
- Blocking a bill counts as the heaviest act there is. A member who votes against a repair took a position in public and can be answered for it at an election. A member who made sure the vote never happened erased the record itself — and erased every other member's chance to be counted.
In this area
- When the Votes Track the Donors — The trigger is the voting record.
- Challengers Who Cannot Be Bought — An incumbent serving foreign interests over the citizen base is disqualified by that fact.
- Citizens United Gets Fixed by This System — Unlimited outside money only works if it buys officeholders.
Where this sits
This is one area of We The Citizens S, the Democratic Socialist front door at WeCitizensSocialism.com. It is written for democratic socialists, and nothing on the other three doors decides what belongs here.
